Law Abiding Citizens

After a home invasion leaves his wife and daughter dea, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler), is told by his attorney, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) that one of the criminals plead guilty and that the other one plea bargain for a lower sentence. Ten years later Clyde has worked out a scheme to exact revenge on his families killers and to take apart the criminal justice system.

Harsh is the word that comes directly to mind after I saw this movie, its not something easy to watch. Director F. Gary Gray and writer Kurt Wimmer really took this film to another level showing the drastic measures a man will take to see justice. With such unpredictability this movies plot line brings a new line of action horror to the screen and the films level of violence fully justifies its R rating. Its violently morbid scenes and criminally insane scenes, will make you wonder how the justice system can really draw a fine line with citizen justice.

For those of you who can't see Gerard other than a whimsical stud or powerhouse spartan and can't bear to see him in an evil role don't see this one, but I have to say that this movie shows his full realm of potential as an actor. I think we will see much more from him over the next few years, things we never expected. Originally I also thought that Jamie Foxx was a poor choice for this film, I have a hard time taking Jamie Foxx seriously but he really pulled the puzzle together.

My rating is a A-, not matter how crude the violence was it was essential to conveying the purpose and emotion of the film.

Death of a Ghost Hunter

Paranormal shows, movies, magazines, groups, etc etc etc have been popping up more and more frequently over the past few years. Being an avid paranormal fan myself (watching habitually shows like most haunted, ghost hunters, prs, supernatural, and the like) anytime a film comes out on the subject I pounce on it. Films such as Death of a Ghost Hunter fits my horror list ticket.

Carter Simms is the leading ghost hunter of her day and in 2002 she was offered $5,000 big ones to conduct an investigation of the Masterson House, where there had been an entire family murder. The headlines go on to tell you that Carter attempted to prove the existence of life after death and succeeded.

The film is cheaply made except for a few visual effects and the acting is pretty poor but it conveys the right point of view for this type of film. Your on the edge of your seat but the music (also terrible) can give the scenes away. Although not your average typical haunted movie, I found it to be one of those really awesome C flick films that I'd watch over and over again. Even for the lame acting, bad musical set up, the story line was perfect for a haunted night in. Like I said its a C flick borderline B but worth the .99 at blockbuster and the end will shock you.

I'm a follower of tim burton films so i automatically wanted to see this one. As i watched the previews i thought that i'd really enjoy it. After watching the film, although i did absolutely love the animation, i left the theater feeling that the film was defiantly lacking in something. i couldn't necessarily put my finger on it but i'm leaning more towards the story line being the problem. I felt that the plot left too many holes and although there was alot of action I would have imagined that the action should of had more reasoning for usage. Even with the ending giving you some answers and it didn't make enough since as to why.

I gave 9 a B- only because i really loved the animation and thought that the creatures as i guess you would call them were incredibly creative i just wish i could have seen them in a different story.
